Difficult tell from the two images, but I wonder if this bird might be the same as that below, which to my eyes also looks red/red?

I don't think they are the same bird. I thought the bird on Aberavon Beach showed a much darker bill. In fact it was distinctive amongst the group by plumage as much as the rings. I should add that the rings looked red over orange through the scope before I decided to take any photos. The photo was taken as a record more than anything else.
The second bird appeared much closer to breeding plumage with (dare I say it) a bright orange bill with a dark tip.
I am interested though that you see the rings on the below shot (Ringed Plover on Aberavon Beach 10/03/13) as both red. I personally see a clear difference in colours from that photo. When I sample the ring colours with photoshop it also seems to show that the colours are different. Comments from others as how they see the colours might be interesting?

I'm sure you're right as all I've seen are the photos and if there were plumage differences then there's no debate. In my defence I just thought the more shaded upper ring on the lower bird might have made it appear darker. Look forward to hearing where these were ringed...
